These rules are designed to directly support newcomers and job seekers by increasing transparency in job postings, reducing indirect discrimination, and creating fairer opportunities to enter the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new law applies to employers who have <strong>25 or more employees<\/strong> on the day a job posting is published. These employers must follow the updated standards beginning in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Removal of the Canadian Work Experience Requirement<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employers will no longer be allowed to list \u201cCanadian Work Experience\u201d as a mandatory hiring requirement, except in a few rare situations defined by law. This change gives newcomers with strong international experience a much fairer chance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mandatory Salary or Salary Range Disclosure<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Starting in 2026, all public job postings must include either an exact salary or a clear salary range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important points:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a salary range is used, the gap between the minimum and maximum amount <strong>cannot exceed $50,000 per year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This rule does <strong>not<\/strong> apply to jobs that pay more than <strong>$200,000 per year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use in Hiring<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If an employer uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) at any stage of screening or hiring, they must clearly mention it in the job posting. This transparency helps applicants, especially newcomers, tailor their resumes more effectively for automated systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Confirmation of a Real Job Vacancy<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job postings must clearly state that the advertised position is <strong>a real and available vacancy<\/strong>.<br>This rule aims to stop employers from posting jobs only to \u201ctest the market\u201d or assess future needs, practices that have wasted applicants\u2019 time for years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mandatory Notification After Interviews<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employers who interview a candidate must inform them of the final hiring decision within 45 days of the interview (or the last interview). The notification may be oral, written, or digital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-\">These new regulations are expected to significantly reshape Ontario\u2019s job market in the coming years. The goal is to increase transparency, reduce unfair barriers, and create more genuine opportunities for newcomers, people who have valuable skills and experience but previously faced unnecessary obstacles when trying to enter the workforce. Overall, these reforms represent an important step toward building a more fair and dynamic job market for everyone in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-october-2025-ontario-minimum-wage-to-rise-on-october-1-2025\">October 2025: Ontario Minimum Wage to Rise on October 1, 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting October 1, 2025, Ontario\u2019s minimum wage will&nbsp;increase<strong> from CAD 17.20 to CAD 17.60 per hour<\/strong>. This adjustment reflects the province\u2019s continued efforts to support workers and respond to the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the same date, the six-month deferral and penalty-relief window for certain provincial taxes, a measure that injected a total of C$9 billion in liquidity into businesses, will end, and payments must be settled.<br>At the federal level, the temporary EI relief, which has helped ease economic pressures, will remain in place until around October 11, 2025, and then conclude; employers and employees should plan for the changes after that date.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is the OINP, Exactly?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is Ontario\u2019s way of picking the people it needs, people who can help the province grow.
